Kingdom Alignment Project

What is the Kingdom Alignment Project? B001

The Kingdom Alignment Project began more than thirty years ago with questions traditional religious teaching was not answering: why mankind was created, why the earth exists, why suffering is allowed, and what it truly means to become aligned with God.

The Kingdom Alignment Project did not begin as an attempt to create another church, denomination, religious institution, or system of doctrine. It began more than thirty years ago with questions—questions that traditional religious teaching was not answering.

Churches were teaching the Bible. They were defending the Bible. They were working to prove that the Bible was historically reliable, prophetically accurate, and worthy of belief. Yet something much more fundamental was often left unanswered:

How does a human being actually come into alignment with God?

Why was man created?

Why was the earth created?

What is the purpose of human life?

Why does God allow suffering?

Why does good and evil exist side by side?

Why does God allow mankind to experience temptation, weakness, opposition, and failure?

What is God actually trying to accomplish through human existence?

What does He require from us?

What is the purpose of obedience, judgment, mercy, covenant, priesthood, probation, and restoration?

And if God is preparing a people for His Kingdom, what is He actually doing within those people?

These were not questions that could be satisfied by inherited explanations.

The search that eventually became the Kingdom Alignment Project began with a very simple decision:

Go to God for the answers.

That did not mean abandoning Scripture.

It meant refusing to treat Scripture merely as a collection of verses used to defend an established religious position. The Scriptures became something to search while seeking the counsel of the God who inspired them.

The goal was no longer simply to know about God.

The goal was to understand His purpose, hear His instruction, test what was received against the inspired Scriptures, obey what He revealed, and discover what it actually means for a human being to become aligned with His Kingdom.

The answers did not come all at once.

They came slowly.

One understanding opened the door to another. A question would be answered only to reveal another question behind it. Passages that once appeared unrelated began to connect. Patterns repeated themselves across generations. Concepts that had been separated by religious tradition began to form a larger picture.

It was, in many ways, exactly what Scripture describes as learning “precept upon precept; line upon line” (Isa. 28:10).

Creation began to connect with probation.

Probation connected with disposition.

Disposition connected with obedience.

Obedience connected with priesthood.

Priesthood connected with atonement.

Atonement connected with mercy and judgment.

Mercy and judgment connected with transformation.

And transformation ultimately connected with the government of God.

Over the course of decades, a larger framework began to emerge.

The Kingdom Alignment Project is the result of that continuing search.

At the center of the project is a simple conviction:

The purpose of God is not merely to convince people to accept correct information about Him. His purpose is to transform human beings from self-government into willing alignment with His Kingdom.

That distinction changes everything.

Religion can teach a person what a denomination believes.

Theology can teach a person how generations of scholars interpreted a passage.

History can explain how doctrines developed.

Institutions can teach systems of belief.

Teachers can provide knowledge.

All of those things may have value.

But none of them can substitute for personally standing before God, seeking His counsel, hearing His instruction, testing what is received by the inspired Scriptures, and obeying what He commands.

The Kingdom Alignment Project therefore does not exist to replace one religious authority with another.

It does not exist to tell people to exchange dependence upon one institution for dependence upon this project.

The objective is the opposite.

The purpose is to call individuals toward God.

To seek Him.

To hear Him.

To test what they hear.

To search the Scriptures.

To obey.

And to be transformed.

That principle became increasingly important as the project developed because Scripture itself gives a test for those who claim to speak for God.

Jeremiah described prophets who claimed to speak in the name of the Lord but had not actually stood in His counsel.

The issue was not whether they were religious.

It was not whether they could quote Scripture.

It was not whether they held positions of authority.

It was not whether people listened to them.

God said:

“But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings” (Jer. 23:22).

That passage has become one of the driving principles behind the Kingdom Alignment Project.

If someone has truly stood in the counsel of God, there should be a consequence.

People should be called away from evil.

Away from rebellion.

Away from self-rule.

Away from pride.

Away from deception.

Away from religious performance without inward transformation.

And toward repentance, obedience, mercy, truth, righteousness, and alignment with God.

This is one of the reasons the Kingdom Alignment Project is not primarily concerned with proving that the Bible is true.

That question has already occupied centuries of scholarship, apologetics, archaeology, textual criticism, and religious debate.

The deeper question is:

If the Scriptures are true, what is God trying to accomplish in us?

Why are we here?

What are we becoming?

What is God testing?

Why must mankind experience probation?

What must be overcome?

Why does Scripture continually return to the condition of the heart?

What does it mean to hear God?

What does obedience actually produce within a person?

And what does a human life look like when it is no longer governed primarily by self, tradition, fear, pride, appetite, religious identity, or human authority—but by the counsel of God?

Those questions eventually revealed something else.

The Kingdom of God cannot simply be understood as something that happens around a person.

It must also involve something that happens within the person.

A kingdom is government.

Alignment therefore concerns government.

Who governs the mind?

Who governs the heart?

Who determines what is true?

Who determines what is right?

Who determines what must be obeyed?

For much of human life, the answer is self.

Human beings govern themselves according to desire, fear, tradition, culture, appetite, ambition, injury, pride, and inherited understanding.

The work of God is therefore not merely informational.

It is transformational.

Alignment occurs as self-government gives way to the government of God.

That transformation is the central concern of this project.

For more than thirty years, much of this work remained outside public view.

There was no reason to publish something simply because an idea had been discovered.

Understanding had to mature.

Earlier conclusions sometimes had to be corrected.

Separate pieces had to be tested against one another.

Scripture had to be searched again and again.

Patterns had to be compared.

Questions had to remain open until there was sufficient understanding to answer them.

And sometimes an answer received years earlier only became understandable after another piece of the framework appeared.

Now, after more than three decades, the door has begun to open for this work to move into the public sphere.

The Kingdom Alignment Project exists to present what has been learned, continue examining what remains incomplete, and call individuals to seek God for themselves.

This project is not asking anyone to accept its teachings merely because they are published here.

No person should believe something simply because the Kingdom Alignment Project says it.

Search the Scriptures.

Seek the counsel of God.

Try the spirits.

Examine the fruit.

Compare what is taught with the inspired record.

Ask God for understanding.

And be willing to abandon any belief—old or new—that cannot withstand that examination.

Because the objective of the Kingdom Alignment Project is not to create followers of the Kingdom Alignment Project.

The objective is transformation.

The objective is alignment.

The objective is to help people confront the question that began this journey more than thirty years ago:

What does God require in order for a human being to become truly aligned with His Kingdom?

And perhaps even more importantly:

If we truly stand in His counsel and hear His words, will those words actually turn us from our evil ways and transform the way we live?

That is the question the Kingdom Alignment Project exists to pursue.
